Dušan Janković was born in Niš in 1894. After joining the Serbian army in 1915, he crossed Albania, and arrived in France, where he spent a significant part of his life. In the period from 1916 to 1935 Dušan Jankovic (1894-1950) lived in Paris where he studied at Ecole Nationale Suéprieure des Arts Decoratifs. During his Paris period Dušan Jankovic very successfully practised different art forms – architecture, interior design, composition and illustration of books, graphic design, porcelain, fashion as well as printmaking and painting. After his return to Belgrade (1935-1950) he devoted himself primarily to the applied graphic art, above all to book design. In 1948 he became a part- time lecturer for applied graphic art and decorative lettering at the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade. He died in Belgrade in 1950.
